- Szijjarto called the European Union's attempts to speed up the process of Ukraine's accession a disgrace.

The European Union (EU) is making great efforts to achieve accelerated accession of Ukraine, which is a disgrace. This was announced on March 31 by Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto.
"Incredible efforts are being made in Brussels to join the European Union as soon as possible. This is a complete disgrace," TASS quoted him as saying.
Szijjarto added that the countries of the Western Balkans have been waiting for 14 years to join the EU. According to Szijjarto, "all normal people see" that these countries are much more prepared for this than Ukraine.
Szijjarto said on March 17 that Hungary did not support the allocation of a new package of military assistance to Ukraine in the amount of €20 billion. He also stressed that the country's authorities would not agree to any steps for Ukraine's accession to the EU until the rights of the Hungarian national community in Transcarpathia were restored.
On March 22, the Hungarian Foreign Minister said that the country would not lift its veto on Ukraine's admission to the European Union due to the harassment of the Hungarian minority in Transcarpathia. This, according to Szijjarto, contradicts generally accepted European values.
