- The political scientist called Trump's intention to run for a third term a working way.

The way to run for a third presidential term, which was mentioned by the American leader Donald Trump, may be effective. Political analyst Ivan Mezyuho informed Izvestia about this on March 31.
On the eve of the NBC News channel published an interview with Trump, in which he stated that he did not rule out the possibility of remaining in his chair. At the same time, the 22nd Amendment to the US Constitution prohibits the same person from holding the post of president for more than two terms.
The journalists asked about the scenario in which the Vice President of the United States, J. D. Vance, would run for this position, and then transfer this role to Trump. The American leader replied that this was one of the methods.
"The scheme described by Trump can theoretically really be working, but on condition that J.D. Vance agrees to voluntarily transfer the mandate of the president of the United States to him, as well as on condition that he wins the upcoming presidential election," Mezyuho explained.
According to him, by this time the country may face a new domestic political reality. The expert noted that there are other situations in which the President of the United States can hold his seat for more than two terms.
"One of the options is a civil war, but I think that Donald Trump would not want to bring his country to such a desperate situation," the political scientist noted.
Mezyuho added that during the Trump administration or later, amendments or legislative acts may be adopted that would limit the American leader's right to run for vice president.
"I think that, in principle, judicial confrontations will be typical in the United States in the coming years. They've already started. <...> These confrontations can have far—reaching consequences for the imbalance of civil society in the United States," the expert concluded.
The Daily Mail newspaper reported on March 30 that the US president could be in power until 2037 due to a loophole in the 22nd amendment to the country's constitution. As specified in the article, this possibility arises due to discrepancies in the interpretation of this amendment: it prohibits re-election only for a president who has been elected twice, but does not regulate the situation of returning to office in the event of the resignation or death of another president.
