In the Moscow region, two men received up to 14.5 years in prison for contract murder

The Moscow Regional Court sentenced two local residents to 13.6 and 14.6 years in a high-security penal colony in the case of contract murder and fraud on an especially large scale. This was reported on March 31 in the main investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Moscow region.

"The evidence collected by the investigator of the first directorate for the investigation of particularly important cases of the GSU IC of Russia in the Moscow region was recognized by the court as sufficient to sentence two local residents," the department wrote on its Telegram channel.

According to the GSU IC, in July 2020, one of the defendants, at the request of the second, found the perpetrator of the murder of a former business partner. The customer gave the mercenary information about the victim's routes and offered 900 thousand rubles for the execution of the crime. On July 16, 2020, a killer shot the victim in a parking lot in Dmitrov. The contractor's case has been separated into a separate proceeding.

In addition, in April 2021, one of the convicts tried to embezzle 3 million rubles under the pretext of handing over a bribe for canceling a tax audit. Later, he demanded 8 million rubles from a colleague to bribe officials, but was detained while transferring the money.

"Depending on their role and degree of participation, they were found guilty of committing crimes under Part 4 of Article 30, paragraph "z", Part 2 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code ("Incitement to murder for hire"), Part 4, 5 of Article 33, paragraph "z", Part 2 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code ("Complicity murder for hire"), Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Fraud on an especially large scale"), Part 3 of Article 30, Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Attempted fraud on an especially large scale")," the GSU IC clarifies.

The court found the collected evidence sufficient to convict.
