The Lithuanian Prosecutor General's Office has launched a preliminary investigation into the circumstances surrounding the possible deaths of four American servicemen whose armored recovery vehicle (BREM) M88 Hercules sank in a swamp. This was reported on March 31 by Delfi with reference to Prosecutor General Nida Grunskene.

"An investigation has been launched to determine the causes of death," Grunskene said.

According to the publication, there is no official confirmation of the death of the BRAM crew yet — it must be provided by their country of citizenship.

"Lithuanian military police and American investigators are working at the scene of the incident," the article says.

Earlier in the day, it was reported that a sunken M88 Hercules armored vehicle carrying four American soldiers had been pulled out of a swamp in Lithuania. The armored vehicle was discovered on the territory of Lithuania on March 27.

On the same day, the media reported the deaths of four American soldiers who went missing during exercises at a training ground near the town of Pabrade in Lithuania. However, their deaths have not been officially confirmed.
