Advisers to US President Donald Trump, who are aggressively opposed to the Russian Federation, may increase their influence in Washington due to the alleged delay in negotiations on Ukraine. This was stated on March 30 by Glen Howard, president of the Saratoga Foundation think tank, in an interview with The Wall Street Journal.

"Trump's advisers, who are aggressive towards Russia, seem to be gaining influence due to the fact that Russia is delaying negotiations," the analyst said.

This is how Howard commented on one of Trump's recent posts on the Truth Social network, which talks about alleged "Russian aggression" and China's expansion policy as a justification for US interests in Greenland. According to the analyst, this phrase was an unusual attack on the Russian Federation.

Earlier, on March 30, Trump announced that he would impose secondary duties on Russian oil exports in the absence of an agreement with the Russian Federation to end the conflict in Ukraine. The US president also threatened Iran with bombing and secondary duties if the country does not conclude a deal guaranteeing the abandonment of the development of nuclear weapons.

Earlier, on March 25, The Wall Street Journal reported that new mirror duties on US imports could be extended to Russia. The publication noted that Trump plans to increase duties on April 2 for G20 countries with which there is a trade imbalance. Russia is among them.
