A business mission organized by the Trade Mission of the Russian Federation in India with the support of the Roscongress Foundation will take place in Colombo, the capital of Sri Lanka, from April 2-4.

"The trend towards multipolarity in the world is inevitable and is getting stronger every year. The desire of businesses to expand their horizons and direct their efforts towards developing relations with those countries that may have remained overlooked before seems like a logical and timely step. Russian-Sri Lankan relations are traditionally characterized by the absence of contradictions and unresolved issues, a significant commonality of approaches to major foreign policy issues, and an atmosphere of mutual understanding and goodwill. The country is open to investment, and actively invites Russian companies to open branches on the island. I am confident that the business mission organized for Russian entrepreneurs will allow us to find new growth points and launch many promising international projects," said Anton Kobyakov, Adviser to the President of the Russian Federation.

A business program awaits the participants of the business mission, the central event of which will be the round table "Russia - Sri Lanka: development of trade, economic and banking cooperation." The discussion will be attended by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka and the Republic of Maldives Levan Jagaryan, Secretary of the Ministry of Industry of Sri Lanka J. M. Tilaka Jayasundara, Trade Representative of Russia in India Alexander Rybas, Director General of the Sri Lanka Investment Council Renuka M. Virakone, Director General of the National Chamber of Commerce Sri Lankan Nilupul Chandrasena. The moderator will be Jude Fernando, President of the Sri Lanka-Russia Business Council.

In addition, as part of the business mission, it is planned to hold bilateral meetings with representatives of Sri Lankan government agencies, a pitch session for Russian companies on the topics of banking and business development, trade, human resources, as well as B2B and B2G meetings and consultations, and visits to infrastructure facilities in Colombo.

Over the course of three days, the participants of the business mission will meet with representatives of Sri Lankan departments and associations, including the Ministry of Trade, Commerce and Food Security, the Ministry of Industry, the Ministry of Labor, the Central Bank, the Association of Professional Bankers, the Chamber of the Construction Industry and the Association of Licensed Employment Agencies Abroad.
