Klimov called the desecration of the grave of Izvestia correspondent Fedorchak Satanism

Vandals who violated the grave of Izvestia war correspondent Alexander Fedorchak in Crimea are Satanists, Andrei Klimov, Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council's International Affairs Committee, said on March 31.

"This is proof that our opponents who are killing our journalists, civilians, are Satanists. What else can explain the abuse of graves? This is pure Satanism," he told Izvestia.

According to Klimov, the Kiev regime is behind the attack.

"When they try to whitewash them, to present them as some kind of freedom fighters, for independence, the fact of desecration of graves outweighs everything else," Klimov added.

The senator expressed confidence that the perpetrators would be found and they would be legally responsible.

The killers will be justly punished, the journalist's colleagues are sure - it is unlikely that another crime in Kiev will be silenced.

Earlier in the day, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov called the situation with the burning of Fedorchak's grave monstrous and pointed out the need to apply harsh measures to those responsible. The spokesman noted that the law provides for appropriate measures against those who commit such acts.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova told Izvestia that Russia is fighting "against ghouls." In addition, Vladimir Tyulin, General Director of Izvestia, called the incident an action organized by the enemy side. According to him, the whole world should see and realize the rightness of the fight against such an unscrupulous and immoral enemy.

Fedorchak's death in the special military operation zone became known on March 24. He worked on the territory of the Luhansk People's Republic and in the Kharkiv region. Later, on March 31, it was reported that in Crimea, vandals burned and destroyed Fedorchak's grave. The press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Crimea said that a criminal case had been opened into the abuse of the grave of the correspondent and three other dead participants in the special operation.
