The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) has sent a request to Barilla Rus due to rising prices. The service will analyze the validity of their increase in wholesale prices for pasta, the FAS reported on March 31.

"In connection with information about the planned increase in prices for Barilla Rus products, the agency requested data from the organization on the volume of production, sales and import of goods into the territory of the Russian Federation, as well as weighted average cost, wholesale and selling prices, profitability and cost calculations from January 2024," the FAS explained.

Based on the analysis of the financial and economic indicators of the company, if there are appropriate grounds, the service will take actions within the framework of antimonopoly regulation.

Earlier, on March 26, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin called the margins of intermediaries one of the main factors driving up food prices. Mishustin stressed that the FAS is closely monitoring the price situation. If necessary, she takes drastic measures. The Head of Government also stated the importance of increasing the level of control more actively.
