A military court has sentenced three militants of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) to 15 years in prison for illegally invading the Kursk region. This was reported on March 31 on the website of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation.

"The court has handed down a verdict in a criminal case against three soldiers of the 17th separate tank brigade of the Armed Formations of Ukraine <...>. They were found guilty under paragraphs "a" and "b" of Part 2 of Article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("The commission by a group of persons by prior agreement of a terrorist act, which entailed the onset of grave consequences")", — it is stated in the message.

It is specified that the defendants invaded the territory of the Sudzhansky district of the Kursk region. After that, they went to the village of Olgovka in the Korenevsky district in order to block it and carry out terrorist activities.

It is noted that the court sentenced the militants to 15 years in prison, serving the first three years in prison, and after that in a high—security penal colony.

On March 18, a court in Moscow sentenced U.S. citizen Derrick Bales (listed as a terrorist in Russia) to 26 years in prison in absentia for crimes against civilians in the Kursk region.

It was clarified that he had carried out armed attacks on the territory of the Kursk region, fired at Russian military personnel, and intimidated civilians. For this, the Ukrainian authorities paid him at least $1,000 a month.
