The United States faces a "serious retaliatory strike" if it follows President Donald Trump's threats to bomb Iran if Tehran refuses to sign a new nuclear deal, Bloomberg reported on March 31, citing a statement by Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Khamenei stressed that "there has always been hostility between the United States and Israel" and that Iran does not consider an attack likely, but "if they commit any atrocity, they will definitely receive a serious retaliatory strike."

"It is unlikely that evil will be committed from the outside, but if it is committed, they will certainly receive a hard blow in return. And if they decide to stir up trouble inside the country <...> the Iranian people themselves will give them an answer," the supreme leader of Iran said.

On March 30, Trump warned Iran that if the country's leadership refuses to sign a new nuclear deal, Iran will face the imposition of secondary duties and airstrikes.
