The head of the Republic of Crimea, Sergei Aksyonov, called the desecration of the graves of Izvestia war correspondent Alexander Fedorchak and three other dead participants in a special military operation an inhumane act. He stated this on March 31 in his Telegram channel.

"This is not the act of a man, but the meanness, hatred and unscrupulousness of animals. Cowardly avoiding a fight with the living, they mock the dead," Aksyonov emphasized.

He added that retribution for those who committed the crime will be inevitable.

Earlier in the day, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova told Izvestia that Russia was fighting "against ghouls" against the backdrop of vandalism involving the burning of Fedorchak's grave. In addition, Vladimir Tyulin, General Director of Izvestia, called the incident an action organized by the enemy side.

Fedorchak's death in the SVO zone became known on March 24. He worked on the territory of the Luhansk People's Republic and in the Kharkiv region. Later, on March 31, it became known that in Crimea, vandals burned and destroyed Fedorchak's grave.
