Applications for a construction project competition have been accepted in Moscow.

The capital has begun accepting applications for the "Best Completed Construction Project" competition, Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said.

Within the framework of the competition, two "Projects of the Year" will be determined — one will be chosen by the participants of the Active Citizen project, and the second by the competition commission.

Applications are accepted until May 31 in 11 categories, including sports facilities; landscaping of public spaces and natural areas; restoration and adaptation of cultural heritage sites for modern use.

Last year, 16 projects were recognized as the best. Among them were the Atom pavilion at VDNH, the territory of the Palace of Pioneers on Vorobyovy Gory; Pykhtino metro station and Vnukovo Airport (Solntsevskaya Line).

The competition has been held since 2000. Its purpose is to encourage the authors of the best construction projects that contribute to creating a comfortable urban environment and improving the quality of life of citizens, as well as encouraging the use of innovative technologies and modern architectural solutions.
