No new viruses or viruses with significant mutations have been identified in Russia. This was announced by Rospotrebnadzor on March 31.

"No new viruses or viruses with significant mutations have been identified during ongoing epidemiological monitoring and genomic surveillance in the Russian Federation," the agency said in a Telegram message.

According to the ministry, currently the epidemiological situation in Russia for a group of respiratory infections, including acute respiratory viral infections, influenza, COVID-19 and community-acquired pneumonia, is stable and fully controlled. There is a decrease in the incidence rate. At the same time, Moscow also has a stable epidemiological situation for this group of infections.

In addition, there is a steady downward trend in the incidence of COVID-19. So, 3 thousand cases were registered in the last week, which is 20.2% less than in the previous week. There has also been a 10.8% decrease in the incidence of acute respiratory viral infections and influenza over the past week. A decrease in the number of hospitalizations was recorded, which amounted to 8.6%.

"At the same time, the activity of influenza B and A(H1N1) viruses persists. The situation regarding the incidence of community-acquired pneumonia is also stable. The incidence rate for the past week is in line with the previous week and does not exceed the average for the last month. There has been no significant trend in the number of hospitalized patients during this period. The situation is under strict control of Rospotrebnadzor," the Rospotrebnadzor concluded.

Gennady Onishchenko, an academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) and deputy president of the Russian Academy of Education, called the allegations of a new virus in the Russian Federation premature the day before. On March 30, virologist Professor Viktor Zuev gave some tips on protecting against diseases. The doctor advised citizens to avoid going outside, not to visit places with large crowds, and also recommended washing their hands regularly, using antiseptics and wearing masks in public places.

On March 29, information appeared on Telegram channels about the alleged appearance of a new virus - patients face high fever and blood when expectorating. Rospotrebnadzor has brought this situation under control.
