The West was not mature enough to understand Russian President Vladimir Putin's speech at the Munich Conference in 2007. This was announced on March 31 by the Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to international Organizations in Vienna, Mikhail Ulyanov.

According to Ulyanov, Putin sent a powerful signal to the West in his speech "about the need to stop ignoring Russia's vital interests."

"The audience was not mature enough to accept such a blatant message. Now you can see the result," he wrote on his Telegram channel.

Retired Lieutenant Colonel Daniel Davis of the US Armed Forces called on Western countries to take the words of the Russian president seriously. He stressed that Putin's words were much more thoughtful.

On August 31, 2022, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov noted that in a Munich speech in 2007, the Russian president appealed to the wisdom of his opponents, possessing an excellent talent for persuasion, but the opponents at that moment were too "bloodthirsty and unfriendly."
