The UK plans to buy F-35 fighter jets from the United States, despite the threat of their deactivation from the American side under certain circumstances. This was reported on March 30 by The Times newspaper.

"The UK will push ahead with a multibillion-dollar deal to buy American fighter jets despite warnings from Europe that President [US Donald] Trump can disable the planes," the publication says.

According to the newspaper, British ministers intend to buy F-35s instead of expensive Eurofighter Typhoons fighters, which were called for by the local Unite trade union, citing reports that the US authorities could prevent the use of F-35 fighters at any time.

The Bild newspaper reported on March 8 that German officials plan to terminate the contract with the United States for the supply of F-35A fighter jets. It was reported that the reason for this step was concerns about the presence of an "emergency switch" in technology, which would allow Trump to deactivate and turn off exported aircraft anywhere in the world at any time.
