The media reported on Trump's plans to visit Saudi Arabia in mid-May.

US President Donald Trump plans to travel to Saudi Arabia in mid-May as part of his first foreign trip after his inauguration, the Axios portal reported on March 31, citing officials and knowledgeable sources.
The publication says that the trip is planned against the backdrop of the Trump administration's efforts to resume a cease-fire in the Gaza Strip and release hostages held by the Palestinian Hamas movement.
A potential trip was discussed between senior officials from the United States and Saudi Arabia, including on the sidelines of negotiations on the Ukrainian conflict. April 28 was suggested as a possible date for the visit, but later this date was postponed, the portal writes.
Saudi Arabia, which is actively involved in the mediation of the United States on the issue of a cease-fire in Ukraine, is inclined to ensure that the trip takes place after a truce is reached between Moscow and Kiev, the article says.
The last negotiations between the Russian and American expert groups in Riyadh took place on March 24, they lasted 12 hours. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on March 25 that Russia and the United States continue to work in a constructive and positive manner.
Later, on March 30, Trump said he expected to have a new conversation with Russian leader Vladimir Putin in the near future.
