The Varyag missile cruiser conducted artillery fire on targets in the Sea of Japan

The flagship of the Pacific Fleet, the Russian Guards missile cruiser of the Nakhimov Order Varyag, conducted military exercises in the waters of the Sea of Japan. This was announced on March 31 in the press service of the Pacific Fleet.
It is specified that at the first stage, the crew of the cruiser fired artillery from a 130-millimeter AK-130 artillery installation at coastal targets located on Zheltukhin Island. The fire was directed not only at visible targets on the coast, but also at targets hidden by the terrain.
After that, the crew was engaged in setting up electronic jamming to protect against the return fire of a simulated enemy. Then the sailors solved mine-fighting tasks. So, to neutralize a simulated floating sea mine that poses a danger to the cruiser, the crew used 30-millimeter six-barrel automatic naval installations AK-630, the department reported.
At sea, the Varyag personnel conducted a training exercise to combat the ship's survivability. The sailors fulfilled the standards for collecting emergency supplies, equipping them in fire suits, sealing the conditionally burning compartment and eliminating the source of ignition.
On March 26, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that the Ufa Pacific Fleet diesel-electric submarine launched Kalibr cruise missiles at sea and coastal targets during an exercise in the Sea of Japan. It is specified that before performing the combat exercise, the submariners made a stealthy transition to the designated area.
