Iran is attacking the joint U.S.-British naval base on Diego Garcia Island in response to any hostile U.S. actions against the Iranian people. This was reported by The Telegraph on March 29, citing a senior Iranian military official.

"There will be no difference in targeting British or American forces if Iran is attacked from any base in the region or within range of Iranian missiles," the newspaper quoted the official as saying.

It clarifies that in the event of an attack, Iran will not take into account who is located and uses American military bases. Tehran will strike them with new Khorramshahr medium-range ballistic missiles and Shahed-136B kamikaze drones with a range of up to 4,000 km.

The publication also cites data from documents according to which the base on Diego Garcia Island is under the gun of Tehran, as strategic bombers capable of striking Iranian targets are based on it.

On March 30, Iranian President Masoud Peseshkian, in a reply letter to US President Donald Trump, refused direct talks, but noted that there was an opportunity to continue the dialogue through intermediaries. In response, Trump threatened Iran with bombing if the parties did not sign an agreement on Tehran's refusal to develop nuclear weapons.

On March 27, the Iranian ambassador to Russia, Kazem Jalali, said that the country excludes the possibility of holding negotiations on the nuclear program with the United States until they stop exerting pressure on Iran.
