Early parliamentary elections will be held in Bulgaria, the only question is when they will take place, Kostadin Kostadinov, leader of the opposition parliamentary Vozrozhdenie party, said in an interview with Izvestia.

"There will be early parliamentary elections — the question is when they will take place. Bulgaria's rulers are facing serious financial problems. In 2025, the country assumed a new debt of BGN 19 billion (about €10 billion), and it is planned to take on another BGN 30 billion over the next two years. This means that by the end of 2027 Bulgaria will double its current external debt, which calls into question its financial stability and economic future," Kostadinov said.

The current government is unstable, and the policy pursued by those in power who follow the Euro-Atlantic course calls into question the very existence of the Bulgarian state. In order for Bulgaria to preserve its sovereignty and avoid an economic catastrophe, lifting sanctions against the Russian Federation, restoring damaged relations and building stable economic and allied ties with Russia should be a priority, the politician concluded.

Recall that since 2021, seven parliamentary elections have been held in Bulgaria, the last in November 2024.
