In Ontario, more than 360,000 residents were left without electricity due to the ice storm that hit the province, the Canadian CBC television channel reported on March 30, citing the Hydro One energy company.

According to officials, the outages were concentrated in central and eastern Ontario. In some settlements of the province, the ice layer reached 15-20 mm.

Christine Kretchman, a meteorologist with the Canadian Ministry of Environmental Protection, said there had been reports that trees toppled by the storm had damaged infrastructure, including houses and power poles.

At the moment, specialists are working to restore power supply in the most affected regions, and additional teams are arriving from other regions to provide assistance.

The city of Peterborough declared a state of emergency to help residents cope with the effects of the storm and opened reception centers for those affected.

CBS News reported on March 15 that at least 18 people were killed and many residential buildings were destroyed in the eastern United States as a result of a powerful storm. At that time, it was clarified that due to strong winds, more than 216,000 homes and businesses in Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Missouri were left without electricity.
