- The temperature in St. Petersburg exceeded 16 degrees for the first time in the history of observations

For the first time in the history of observations, the air in St. Petersburg warmed up to a temperature of more than +16 degrees. This was announced on March 30 by the city's chief weather forecaster, Alexander Kolesov.
"Here are the first 16 degrees in March for St. Petersburg. All records have been broken," the meteorologist wrote on his Telegram channel.
He posted a screenshot of the website of the North-Western Directorate for Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring, which states that the city has reached +16.1 degrees.
The forecaster pointed out that a record had also been broken the day before — the temperature reached +15 degrees. The previous highest mark, which was +14.7 degrees, was observed on March 30, 2007.
In addition, the night of March 30 also became the warmest in the history of observations, the temperature did not fall below +6.7 degrees — the record from March 30, 1978, when the air warmed up to +5.2 degrees, was broken.
Earlier, on January 16, the scientific director of the Hydrometeorological Center of Russia, Roman Vilfand, told why there had been abnormal weather in Russia since the end of autumn: the Atlantic air influenced the temperature, which caused unusual warmth not only in the European part of the country, but also in the Urals, Siberia and the Pacific coast. It is for this reason that Lake Baikal, contrary to custom, was not covered with ice last winter.
