Captured Ukrainian militant Alexander Smolnikov said that the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) have been fighting with foreign shells for almost three years.
"Since the 22nd year, they (foreign shells. — Ed.) were. Summer, it's about the end of summer. Because the old Soviet ones are already over. The boxes were broken, which were brought from the warehouses somewhere, and there were remnants of all this. Then they went, it's clear from the boxes that they are new," said the prisoner, quoted by RIA Novosti on March 30.
Smolnikov said that he was mobilized from the Chernihiv region of Ukraine in February 2022 and participated in the battles in the Donetsk direction. He was later captured by the Russian military in the vicinity of Ugledar.
On February 20, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov announced that terrorist groups around the world are "fueled" by the supply of Western weapons that reach them from Ukraine.
Earlier, on February 7, Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Ivan Gavrilyuk said that about 70% of the weapons of the Armed Forces of Ukraine represent military assistance from Western countries.
