- The media reported on Musk's revision of NASA programs in order to send people to Mars

American entrepreneur and CEO of SpaceX Space Corporation Elon Musk is adjusting programs and expenses at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) in the United States to organize a human flight to Mars. This was reported on March 29 by The Wall Street Journal (WSJ), citing sources.
The entrepreneur plans to redirect the agency's resources to work on the implementation of the mission on Mars.
The interlocutors of the publication pointed out that for this purpose the head of SpaceX is trying to get the support of US President Donald Trump, convincing him that a flight to a neighboring planet will help the head of state to make history.
The WSJ noted that SpaceX is already one of NASA's largest contractors, and a possible flight to Mars will have a very big impact on the company.
Musk announced on March 17 that humans could arrive on Mars in 5-7 years. The entrepreneur noted that the main question of colonization is whether humanity has reached a sufficient level of technological development to continue building civilization on this planet on its own if ships stop arriving from Earth. Later, on March 19, the head of SpaceX adjusted his forecast, noting that it would take 20-30 years to colonize Mars.
On March 15, Kirill Dmitriev, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), suggested that Musk prepare a mission to Mars in 2029 as part of a joint effort between the Russian Federation and the United States.
