Two people died in a fire in a multi-storey building in the Irkutsk region.


In the city of Taishet, Irkutsk region, an apartment caught fire in one of the multi-storey buildings, killing two people. This was announced on Sunday, March 30, by the press service of the main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations in the region in the Telegram channel.
According to the agency, the flame on an area of 4 square meters broke out due to an unopened cigarette, with which a 57-year-old resident fell asleep. After smelling the acrid smell of smoke, the man woke up and tried to evacuate with his 89-year-old mother, but they failed to get out alive.
Rescuers evacuated five people from the smoke-filled entrance. 21 specialists and seven pieces of equipment were involved in extinguishing the fire.
On January 2, the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia in the Irkutsk region reported on a man who died as a result of a fire. It was clarified that he fell asleep with an unlit cigarette. Subsequently, the smoldering cigarette butt began to burn through the bed, which led to a fire in the apartment building.
