Trump did not rule out the use of military force to annex Greenland

US President Donald Trump has said he does not rule out the use of military force to annex Greenland. He expressed the corresponding opinion on March 29 in an interview with NBC News.
"We will get Greenland. Yes, 100%," Trump said.
According to him, there is a high probability that Washington will be able to do this without using military force, but he did not rule out the opposite scenario.
Commenting on the scandalous incident with the leak of data on American strikes on Yemen in Signal, Trump said he was not going to fire any of the chat participants. In his opinion, this scandal is the only thing the American press wants to talk about.
In addition, the American leader said that he did not care whether automakers would raise prices due to new US duties of 25%. According to him, these measures are permanent and he does not intend to postpone their introduction again. He also added that he would consider the possibility of negotiations on this issue only if the United States offered "something really valuable."
In December last year, President Trump said that for the United States, ownership and control of Greenland is an absolute necessity. Prior to that, he expressed interest in buying the island from Denmark in 2019, but was refused. In 2025, Trump was also told that the island was not for sale and would not be sold, but Denmark could cooperate more with the United States.
The American president said on March 27 that Greenland's accession to the United States is necessary to ensure national and international security. At the same time, he admitted that he did not know if the residents of Greenland had a desire to join, but noted that "they need to be convinced" to become American citizens.
