- WP announced the dismissal of hundreds of employees of the US Institute of Peace by the decision of DOGE

The staff of the headquarters of the United States Institute of Peace (USIP) has been reduced by the decision of the Department for Improving the Efficiency of the American government (DOGE). This was reported on March 29 by The Washington Post (WP).
"USIP employees told The Washington Post that between 200 and 300 people — almost the entire staff of the institute's headquarters - have been laid off," the publication says.
According to the newspaper, some employees of the institute were offered severance pay or an extension of medical insurance in exchange for their signatures waiving the right to file a lawsuit.
It is noted that in total, USIP has about 600 employees in offices around the world.
The Reuters news agency, citing sources, reported on March 29 that the remaining employees of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) would be laid off in July and September. According to Reuters, the Trump administration has informed Congress that it will cut almost all remaining jobs at USAID, as well as close the agency.
