US President Donald Trump discussed the purchase of icebreakers with Finnish President Alexander Stubb. This was announced by Trump on March 29 on the Truth Social network.
"President Stubb and I look forward to strengthening the partnership between the United States and Finland, which includes the purchase and development of a large number of much—needed icebreakers for the United States," the statement said.
Trump also called Stubb a "good golfer" during a game at the Trump International Golf Club in Palm Beach, Florida.
Mikhail Kovalchuk, President of the Kurchatov Institute National Research Center (NRC), told Izvestia on February 21 on the sidelines of the Future Technologies Forum that the Russian Federation has been using a nuclear icebreaker fleet for decades, seriously ahead of the United States. According to him, the United States has two icebreakers, there are no nuclear icebreakers.
