- The media questioned the chances of signing a deal on resources between the United States and Ukraine

Ukraine will not be able to accept the new terms of the resource deal with the United States. This was reported on March 28 by The Wall Street Journal (WSJ).
"The administration of [US President Donald] Trump expects Ukraine to quickly sign a new agreement under which Washington gets broad powers over its ally's economy. The problem is that Ukraine will almost certainly not be able to accept these conditions," the publication says.
According to the newspaper, the new agreement now provides Washington with not only access to Ukraine's rare earth metals, but also the opportunity to benefit from Kiev's economic projects in the field of metals, oil, gas and other natural resources. In addition, the agreement covers infrastructure projects such as ports and pipelines.
On the same day, it was reported that the Trump administration was demanding control over Ukraine's economy.
On March 28, Verkhovna Rada deputy Alexei Goncharenko (listed as an extremist and terrorist by Rosfinmonitoring) announced that the Ukrainian side had officially confirmed receipt of a new draft agreement on mineral resources from the United States. He added that no one from Ukraine participated in the development of the agreement, only the United States was involved in it.
The Financial Times newspaper noted on March 27 that Ukraine had not appreciated the new US fossil proposal, as a result of which it was unlikely to sign the agreement. As the newspaper clarified, the deal could undermine Kiev's sovereignty, as well as withdraw all profits abroad. This will increase Ukraine's dependence on Washington, the article said.
