A 30-year-old man who attacked passers-by in the center of Amsterdam on March 27 and injured five people is a citizen of Ukraine. This was announced by the press service of the Dutch police on its website.
"The suspect will appear before an Amsterdam court judge on Tuesday, April 1. A decision will be made there on a possible extension of the pre—trial detention period," the Dutch law enforcement agencies clarified.
On March 26, the man checked into a hotel in Amsterdam. The motives of the crime are not reported.
The attacker was disarmed by a British tourist and handed over to the police officers who arrived at the scene. All the victims are in stable condition, one of them has been discharged from the hospital.
On January 28, it became known that a citizen of Ukraine turned out to be trying to ram the gates of the Russian Embassy in Sweden. He had previously attacked the Russian embassy and trade mission in Sweden.
