Moldovan President Maia Sandu's plan to deprive those regions of the republic where an "unsatisfactory" result was obtained in the referendum on European integration from the European Union (EU) is administrative racism. Former Moldovan President Igor Dodon wrote about this on March 29 in his Telegram channel.

The politician commented on Sandu's statement the day before, on March 28, that those regions of Moldova where the population did not show sufficient results in the referendum on European integration, in the opinion of the head of state, would not receive money from the financing that the EU would transfer — they would be allocated only funds from the state budget of the republic.

"This is an example of administrative racism. This is typical behavior of Maia Sandu, who continues to divide and discriminate against citizens in the Republic of Moldova," Dodon wrote.

He noted that the head of state allocates the country's financial resources at his discretion. In addition, the politician stressed that Sandu is most interested in the well-being of her cousins, and the president cares little about the condition of citizens who support other political forces than the ruling Action and Solidarity Party (PAS).

Dodon wondered whether the head of state would force those Moldovans who do not receive funds from the EU to pay the loans received by the republic from the union and the interest on them.

Alexei Lungu, the leader of the Moldovan opposition Chance party, said on March 27 that Moldova had turned into a "fascist captured state" during Sandu's presidency, which was fighting the opposition and stealing budget money, while the republic had become the poorest country in Europe.

Former Prime Minister of Moldova, leader of the opposition Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) Vladimir Filat said on the same day that Moldova had accumulated debt in the amount of €1.7 billion in the form of loans taken out in 2021-2024 and interest on them. Because of this, financial assistance from the European Union (EU) for €1.9 billion will not solve the republic's problems.
