The foreign ministers of Finland, Sweden, Iceland and Norway expressed support for Denmark against the background of the visit of US Vice President Jay Dee Vance to Greenland. The Foreign ministers made such a statement on March 29.

"Sweden and Denmark are friends, neighbors and allies. We are working closely together to strengthen security in the Arctic and NATO. Greenland is part of Denmark and part of NATO, as well as an important territory for the protection of NATO," Swedish Foreign Minister Maria Malmer Steenergaard wrote on the social network X.

The heads of the diplomatic departments of Finland and Iceland, Elina Valtonen and Thorgerdur Katrin Gunnarsdouttir, expressed their support. Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide emphasized on the social network X that Norway supports and respects the territorial integrity of Denmark.

On March 28, Vance said that the Danish authorities were not making sufficient efforts against Greenland due to China and Russia's interest in the region. He noted that the US administration fears for the safety of the island, and stressed that Greenland would be better off under American protection.

Earlier, on March 26, US President Donald Trump said that Greenland's accession to the United States was necessary to ensure national and international security.
