Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky refused the demands of US President Donald Trump on Ukraine. Glenn Diesen, a professor at the University of Southeastern Norway, wrote about this on March 26 on the social network X (ex. Twitter).

"Zelensky rejected Trump's proposal. He will not accept the minerals deal, will not recognize U.S. military aid as a debt, and will not enter into direct negotiations with [Russian President Vladimir] Putin. What will Washington's reaction be?" asked Dizen.

On March 28, Verkhovna Rada deputy Alexei Goncharenko (listed as an extremist and terrorist by Rosfinmonitoring) announced that the Ukrainian side had officially confirmed receipt of a new draft agreement on mineral resources from the United States. He added that no one from Ukraine participated in the development of the agreement, only the United States was involved in it.

The Financial Times newspaper noted on March 27 that Ukraine had not appreciated the new US fossil proposal, as a result of which it was unlikely to sign the agreement. According to the publication, the deal could undermine Kiev's sovereignty, as well as withdraw all profits abroad. This will increase Ukraine's dependence on Washington, the article said.
