The Palestinian Hamas movement is ready to release several hostages in order to establish a ceasefire during the Eid al-Fitr holiday. This was announced on March 28 by the Israeli broadcasting company Kan, citing sources.

According to her, one of the released hostages may be military Idan Alexander, who has US citizenship. He was captured by Hamas at the Kisufim checkpoint.

At the same time, neither the exact terms of the truce proposed by the Palestinian movement nor Israel's position on this issue are yet clear, the media added.

At a meeting with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan on March 22, Hamas representatives said they were ready to "show flexibility" in dialogue with Israel in order to achieve a truce in the Gaza Strip, the withdrawal of the Israeli military from there and the exchange of hostages for Palestinian prisoners.

On March 18, the Israel Defense Forces announced the resumption of military operations against Hamas in the Gaza Strip. As a result of the Israeli airstrikes, more than 1,000 people were injured, and the death toll increased to 310. Israeli journalist Barak Ravid also said that Israel had warned the administration of US President Donald Trump in advance about the resumption of attacks on the Gaza Strip.
