- A prisoner of the Armed Forces of Ukraine spoke about the recruitment of convicted women into the ranks of the Ukrainian army

Women who have served their sentences in prison are actively recruited into the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). Konstantin Kharitonov, a Ukrainian prisoner of war, told about this on March 29. The video was distributed by the Russian Defense Ministry.
According to Kharitonov, with the appointment of Mikhail Drapaty, commander of the ground forces, convicted women began serving in the Ukrainian army. Each combat unit consisted of up to eight men, including 2-3 women.
"The average age of men was about 45 years, something like that. The younger women were 30 [years old], somewhere like that," said the prisoner of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The Ukrainian military also spoke about the mobilization process in Ukraine. He noted that he was initially considered unfit for military service due to strabismus, but after passing the third medical examination he received permission.
"On December 5, I was mobilized, I completed basic military training first, and I was taken from the training center to the Skala [assault regiment]," Kharitonov said.
On March 23, captured Ukrainian Armed Forces militant Vitaly Topchienko shared that he was mobilized right on New Year's Eve and drafted, despite chronic illnesses. After that, he was sent to a training center, where, according to him, all the training took place according to the training manual. Six days later, the militant positions were attacked by Russian drones. Then Topchienko decided to surrender.
