Former Austrian Foreign Minister Karin Kneissl, who moved to a village in the Ryazan region, spoke on March 28 about her experience of rural life. She called the village "a completely different world" and admitted that it was there that she found her Russia.

"The village is a completely different world. <...> I found my Russia, which is a small part of the big one. It's a small village, a small life," she said on the Russian Ark program on the SPAS TV channel.

At the same time, Kneissl admitted that due to her financial capabilities, she is in a more comfortable environment in the village. So, she said that she has a car, so she doesn't have to walk to get groceries.

In addition, the former Austrian Foreign Minister expressed the opinion that villages could become more lively, since now there are many professions that allow you to work remotely without leaving rural areas.

In the summer of 2023, the former head of the Austrian foreign ministry told Izvestia that she had to leave Austria because she was working with Russia. Austrian diplomats wanted to revoke the diplomat's citizenship due to the fact that she teaches at a Russian university. In August 2023, she settled in the village of Petrushovo in the Ryazan region.

In March 2024, Kneissl announced that she had finally moved to Russia because it was a free country. She also clarified that she would like to build a house in the east of the country for permanent residence there.
