The license of TVC21 TV channel was suspended in Moldova

The license of the TVC21 TV channel, which provided a platform to the country's opposition politicians, was suspended in Moldova. This was announced on March 28 by the press secretary of the Government of the Republic Daniel Voda.
"The Board has identified an administrative problem related to the shareholders of the company that owns the TV channel. No violations were found in the content of the programs or editorial activities. More transparency was requested regarding the ownership structure — this aspect is the focus of the council's attention," Voda wrote on the Telegram channel.
He added that the license was suspended temporarily. According to him, if the TV channel provides the board with information about shareholders and cooperates within 60 days, the situation will be resolved and TVC21 will resume its work.
In addition, he assured that the suspension was not related to censorship or editorial content.
On October 4 last year, the Council for the Promotion of Investment Projects under the Government of Moldova announced that the Moldovan authorities had revoked the licenses of Prime and Publika TV channels that provided the platform to the opposition. It was clarified that the companies did not provide all the requested documents in a timely manner.
Prior to that, on September 10, 2024, the country revoked the license of the company — owner of the Canal 5 TV channel, which provided a platform for the Moldovan opposition. The text of the decision of the Moldovan Council for the promotion of investment projects stated that the company was transferred to the Shor Group, owned by Ilan Shor, leader of the opposition political bloc Pobeda.
