One of the main topics of the International Arctic Forum, which was held in Murmansk on March 26-27 under the slogan "Live in the North!", was the development of Arctic tourism. The President of the Russian Federation paid special attention to this topic. The regions and cities of the Russian Arctic, as well as numerous tourist routes in the Russian North, will be presented at the International Travel Forum "Travel!", which will be held from June 10 to 15 at VDNH.

According to Vladimir Putin, more than a million tourists visit the Arctic every year to explore its landscapes, see the Northern Lights, go Arctic fishing, go dog sledding or travel to the Arctic archipelagos.

"To open the Arctic to mass tourism, of course, the issue of transport accessibility is important. Starting from the repair and construction of highways and up to the development of aviation communications," the Head of state emphasized during his speech at the Forum's plenary session. In this regard, it was decided to extend preferential fares for flights to Arctic cities. Last year, about eight hundred thousand passengers took advantage of this opportunity. This year, subsidized tickets can be purchased for more than seven dozen air routes. The President of the Russian Federation also suggested considering including the development of the tourist infrastructure of the White Sea in the federal project "Five Seas and Lake Baikal".

"President Vladimir Putin has set a goal to almost double the tourist flow in the country to 140 million people by 2030. And we see that the number of trips across Russia is steadily growing, including to the Arctic. This is largely facilitated by the measures of the updated national project "Tourism and Hospitality", which also include the Five Seas and Lake Baikal federal project and the creation of national tourist routes. I'm sure it's on the Travel forum! The Arctic regions will be able to present themselves from the best side and get new ideas to attract travelers from both Russia and other countries," said Dmitry Chernyshenko, Deputy Prime Minister of Russia.

At the IAF-2025 site, the head of state got acquainted with the master plans of the main settlements of the Russian Arctic. The list of key settlements for which master development plans have been prepared on his behalf includes the Murmansk agglomeration (including the city of Murmansk and Severomorsk), the Kirovsko-Apatitskaya agglomeration and the city of Monchegorsk (Murmansk Region), the Kemsko-Belomorskaya agglomeration (Karelia), the Arkhangelsk agglomeration (including Arkhangelsk and Severodvinsk). The list also includes Naryan-Mar (NAO), the agglomeration of Salekhard-Labytnangi, the cities of Novy Urengoy and Noyabrsk (YANAO), Vorkuta agglomeration (Komi), Norilsk-Dudinka agglomeration, the village of Dixon and the city of Igarka (Krasnoyarsk Territory), Tiksi village with adjacent territories of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), the cities of Anadyr and Pevek (Chukotka Autonomous District).

It will be possible to get acquainted with the cities of the Russian Arctic and the projects of the northern cities at the festival exposition of the International Tourism Forum "Travel!", which will be held under the motto "Discovering Russia". The Forum is organized by the Roscongress Foundation with the support of the Government of the Russian Federation.
