The European Union (EU) believes that sending a European military contingent to Ukraine is impossible without Washington's support. This was announced on March 28 by Swedish Defense Minister Paul Jonson in an interview with the newspaper Le Figaro.

"This is one of the conclusions we have reached," the head of the department said.

According to Johnson, all discussions on the possible deployment of EU military personnel on the Ukrainian front "are at a preliminary stage, since a peace agreement has not yet been concluded."

To implement this idea, he continued, it is necessary to clearly define the format of European countries' participation in this mission, get an assessment from NATO of the impact of this mission on the work of the alliance, and also achieve "the participation of the United States, even if its format is not finalized," the minister concluded.

Earlier, on March 19, it became known that the Swedish government had approved a three-year plan for military assistance to Kiev. It is planned to spend $7.5 billion for these purposes by 2026.
