The accusations of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky against Russia that it is trying to gain time by negotiating with the United States have no real basis. This was stated by State Duma Deputy Yuri Shvytkin on Friday, March 28.

He stressed that the aim of the negotiations is to resolve the conflict.

"Russia is negotiating with the United States to resolve the Ukrainian conflict peacefully. And the attacks on our peaceful infrastructure by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), on the contrary, indicate a desire to escalate tensions," the politician said in a conversation with Lenta.Ru .

Shvytkin added that Russia has repeatedly called on Ukraine to stop fighting and sit down at the negotiating table based on the realities on the ground. Prolonging the confrontation harms Kiev itself, the politician stressed.

"The more Ukraine delays this settlement process, the worse it will get. The fewer territories and statehood there may be in the end," he concluded.

Yesterday, Zelensky said that Ukraine's agreement to a temporary cease-fire on energy infrastructure facilities was a tactical step to demonstrate to the world Russia's alleged unwillingness to end the conflict, RT reports.

On March 25, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov pointed out the incompetence of the Kiev regime after the Ukrainian Armed Forces attacked the Sudzha gas measuring station in the Kursk region. He called the attack the reason why it is currently impossible to trust the Ukrainian side and make peace with it.
