Overchuk reported a 4.2% increase in the EAEU's GDP over the past year

The gross domestic product (GDP) of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) increased by 4.2% last year, while the European Union (EU) grew by only 0.8%. This was stated on March 28 by Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk at the plenary session of the International Economic Forum of the CIS member States "New Impulses for the Development of the Greater Eurasian Partnership."
"In 2024, the EAEU's GDP increased by 4.2%. In the EU, for example, a similar indicator, according to preliminary estimates, was only 0.8%. The experience of the EAEU can also be a good help for building a space of well—being and prosperity in Eurasia," TASS quoted him as saying.
In his opinion, the EAEU's GDP growth was due to the transition to uniform mandatory requirements for goods, the elimination of annual customs control for the period 2015-2023.
"The mutual trade of the EAEU due to these measures was on average 24% higher," the Deputy Prime Minister continued.
Overchuk also noted that the EAEU will unlock its potential as one of the economic centers of the Greater Eurasian Partnership until 2030 within the framework of the Declaration on the Further Development of Economic Processes and for the period up to 2045 during the "Eurasian Economic Way", adopted following the meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council in St. Petersburg on December 25, 2023.
On March 27, Overchuk informed reporters about Armenia's continued work in the EAEU. In his opinion, the country participates in the activities of the union, as well as contributes to the Eurasian integration.
