More than 80 people are trapped under the rubble of a collapsed building in Bangkok after the earthquake. This was reported on March 28 by The Nation newspaper, citing Thai Deputy Prime Minister Phum Tham Vechayachaya.

"Rescue operations are underway at the collapsed construction site in Chatuchak, where three deaths have been confirmed, and 81 people remained trapped after a strong earthquake," the publication says.

According to Vechayachaya, the earthquake in Bangkok was the largest in the last decade. The Nation clarified that schools were closed due to the tremors. Currently, the buildings of hospitals and educational institutions are being checked for structural damage.

According to the newspaper, the two main places of destruction were a 34-storey and three-storey building in the Thai capital.

Earthquakes of magnitude 7.7 and 6.4 were recorded in Myanmar, neighboring Thailand, earlier in the day, and subsequently fluctuations reached Bangkok and its environs. Thai Prime Minister Phethong Thang Shinawatra has declared a state of emergency in the country's capital. The metro is not working in the city, there are interruptions in communication. The Russian Embassy in the country clarifies the situation regarding possible victims among Russians.

As a result of the earthquake, three people died, 81 more were missing. Those who died at the time of the incident were on the territory of the State control Administration building under construction.
