The State Duma proposed to triple fines for parking on sidewalks

The State Duma has prepared a bill that proposes to triple the fine for parking cars on the sidewalk. The fine should increase from 1 to 3 thousand rubles, and in Moscow and St. Petersburg - from 3 to 5 thousand rubles, according to deputies from the Liberal Democratic Party. The party's press service told TASS on March 28.
According to party leader Leonid Slutsky, the bill will be sent to the Government of the Russian Federation in the near future, and then submitted to the State Duma for consideration. The deputies are confident that the current fines for parking on the sidewalk have lost their relevance, since the norm was established back in 2011.
The head of the party drew attention to the fact that motorists regularly abandon cars on sidewalks, across pedestrian paths, blocking entrances to entrances. Residents are forced to avoid obstacles on the roadway. This is especially uncomfortable for women with strollers, children and the elderly.
"Owners of expensive foreign cars, whose pockets will not be impoverished by a small fine, the amount of which is less than for paying two hours of parking in the center of Moscow on a weekday, often sin with such disregard for others," Slutsky said.
On March 26, it was reported that the State Duma rejected a bill that would provide regions of the Russian Federation with the opportunity to introduce a discount on fines for non-payment of parking. The bill was submitted to the State Duma in July last year. They proposed to amend the Administrative Code and give the regions the right to introduce a 50% discount on the prompt payment of a fine (within 20 days after the issuance) for violating the rules for using paid parking.
