The expert gave advice on changing winter tires to summer tires

Before signing up for a tire service, it is worth checking the wear of the kit. If they are badly worn out, you may need to think about buying new kits in advance, Maxim Davidenko, head of Product and Service Development at Alfa-Leasing Group, told Izvestia on March 30.

"Special attention should be paid to the tread: summer tires should have sufficient depth to ensure optimal traction. The minimum figure is about 1.6 mm," he said.

In addition, according to him, when changing seasonal tires, it is necessary to assess the condition and cleanliness of the rims. Operating the car in winter conditions could lead to corrosion or dents. If the dent is large, the tightness of the wheel may be compromised.

By the end of the month, the temperature will drop to negative values, meteorologists warn.

"After the tire repair procedure, it is recommended to balance the wheels. It will reduce vibration and protect against premature suspension damping. After installing summer tires, it is worth checking the pressure level in them, making sure that the indicator meets the recommendations of the car manufacturer. The appropriate tire pressure level guarantees stable handling of the car," Davidenko added.

The expert noted that winter tires must be cleaned of dirt and salt before storage in order to extend their service life. It is also worth using storage covers — they will protect the tires from dust and UV rays, which will preserve their elasticity and shape.

Earlier, on March 14, SberAuto told Izvestia that if you have basic tools and skills, independent tire installation can lead to unpleasant consequences. They stressed that it is worthwhile to change only the wheel assemblies on your own — it is difficult to properly install the disc without experience and equipment.
