The State Duma appreciated Zelensky's words about the conditions of trust in Trump

The attempt by Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky to impose conditions on American leader Donald Trump under which Kiev will trust Washington is absurd. Alexey Chepa, first deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs, told Izvestia on March 28.
On March 27, at a press conference in Paris after a meeting of European Union (EU) leaders to support Ukraine, Zelensky said he would not be able to trust Trump if Washington did not fix some "violations of agreements" on the part of Russia and continued to discuss easing anti-Russian sanctions. His words are quoted by the Ukrainian edition of New Voice.
"It all sounds absurd. All control issues, they will be discussed and are already being discussed at meetings that run for 12 hours. This is Zelensky's attempt to somehow show his importance in resolving this issue," Chepa said.
He recalled that Washington is discussing reducing sanctions pressure on Russia solely due to the fact that these measures have a negative impact on the US economy.
"They (the United States - Ed.) apply sanctions as a means of competition. And the Americans have applied and are applying these sanctions. And if they don't benefit from something, they immediately cancel them. They already see that many sanctions have led to losses," the deputy stressed.
According to him, Zelensky's attempts to object to American initiatives aimed at protecting the interests of the United States exclusively are ridiculous.
On March 26, Agence France-Presse (AFP) reported on the social network X (ex. Twitter) with reference to a Ukrainian official that Kiev needs foreign military, not peacekeepers. On March 27, Mikhail Sheremet, a State Duma deputy from the Crimean region and a member of the security committee, told Izvestia that the United States would not tolerate such statements from Kiev that hindered the conflict settlement process.
