A resident of Tatarstan, who was considered dead as a result of the Sindbad excursion bathyscaphe crash off the coast of Hurghada, is alive. On March 28, Consul General of the Russian Federation in Hurghada Viktor Voropaev notified about this.

"She is alive, and employees of the Russian Consulate General are currently in the hospital with her and her family members," TASS quoted the Consul General as saying.

According to him, the tourist bathyscaphe began to sink during the boarding of passengers and quickly went under water. At the moment, the causes of the incident are being investigated.

The crash of a bathyscaphe with Russians on board off the coast of Hurghada became known the day before. There were 45 Russian citizens on the ship. Initially, it was reported about five dead Russian citizens, including two children. The company Sharm Hurghada Excursions, which organized the tour, told Izvestia that the bathyscaphe had been in operation for about 10 years.

The Consulate General reported the rescue of 38 Russians. Of these, 24 people were taken to hotels, the remaining 14 citizens were hospitalized.
