The St. Petersburg-based AGR Automobile Plant (formerly Hyundai Motor) has produced 30,000 cars of the Russian Solaris brand since the company's relaunch in February last year. This is stated in the company's message, which was received by Izvestia on March 28.

The anniversary was the Solaris KRX in a blue Galaxy Blue body with a 1.6-liter engine and an automatic transmission in the Style configuration.

According to Alexey Kalitsev, CEO of AGR Holding, the company continues to work on deepening localization, as well as expanding its staff to increase production speed. Starting in April, more than 200 cars a day will roll off the assembly line at the AGR Automobile Plant, he said.

The former plant of the South Korean Hyundai concern in St. Petersburg, acquired by the Russian company Art Finance, was renamed the AGR Automobile Plant in early 2024. Solaris brand cars are renamed Hyundai and Kia and are produced in full cycle mode (stamping, welding, painting and assembly). The model range includes HC crossovers (Hyundai Creta), KRS sedan (Kia Rio), KRX cross hatchback (Kia Rio X) and HS sedan (Hyundai Solaris).

Earlier in the day, it was reported that the Korean companies Hyundai, LG and Samsung are considering the possibility of returning to the Russian market. According to The Korea Times, HD Hyundai Electric subsidiaries Kia, Hyundai Mobis and Hyundai Steel have posted vacancies in Russia, which indicates a high chance of resuming operations.
