In Myanmar, the death toll from the earthquake has risen to 20. As reported on March 28 by the local portal DVB.no The eight-storey Aung Pang Hotel in South Shan State collapsed.

"The hotel was destroyed by a strong earthquake at 13:00 Pacific time (. Two people died, and the hotel staff is still trapped," the statement said.

Currently, rescuers are evacuating the stranded people, it is assumed that there may be many injured. The exact number of people who were in the building at the time of the emergency is unknown.

Also, according to the Eleven Myanmar portal, there was a collapse of the monastery building in the city of Taungu. According to preliminary data, five children and a novice died there.

Myanmar authorities have declared a state of emergency in the earthquake-affected regions. The Russian Foreign Ministry said that information about possible injured Russians during the earthquake is currently being clarified.

Earthquakes of magnitude 7.7 and 6.4 were recorded in Myanmar earlier in the day, and subsequently the fluctuations also reached the Thai capital Bangkok and its surroundings. Thai Prime Minister Phethong Thang Shinawatra has declared a state of emergency in the country's capital. The metro is not working in the city, there are interruptions in communication. The Russian Embassy in the country clarifies the situation regarding possible victims among Russians.

CNN, citing Thai authorities, reported that at least 50 people were injured in the collapse of a building under construction during the earthquake in Bangkok. At least 67 more people are trapped under the rubble of the building.
