The FSB of Russia in the Leningrad region detained a suspect in treason

Illegal activities of a man suspected of treason have been suppressed in the Leningrad Region. This was announced on March 28 by the press service of the FSB of Russia for the city of St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region.

It was established that the man, being an oppositionist, administered pro-Ukrainian and opposition resources, and also came into contact with a representative of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, through whom he provided financial assistance to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

According to the agency, the suspect carried out all illegal actions proactively and free of charge.

"I transferred money transactions to Ukraine using a bitcoin wallet. I did it voluntarily, without coercion, realizing. He also distributed narcotic drugs," the man said.

The Investigative Service of the Federal Security Service of Russia for the city of St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region has opened a criminal case on this fact under Article 275 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation "High Treason". The attacker was arrested and taken into custody. A further set of investigative actions and operational search measures is currently being carried out.

On March 20, a reserve lieutenant colonel in the Khabarovsk Territory was sentenced to 13 years in a high-security penal colony for financing the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). The man transferred funds abroad in the summer and autumn of 2022. His close relative, who lives in Ukraine, received the money, and then transferred it to one of the country's funds. The defendant was found guilty under the article on treason.
