Moldovan prosecutors have requested 30 days of arrest for Hutsul


In Moldova, prosecutors have requested 30 days of arrest for the detained head of Gagauzia, Evgenia Gutsul. This became known on Friday, March 28.
It was reported that the court session in Chisinau was held behind closed doors as Hutsuls were being suppressed.
At the same time, representatives of the Moldovan opposition bloc Pobeda and their supporters gathered outside the court to support the head of Gagauzia.
The detention of the head of the Hutsul at the Chisinau airport without explanation became known on March 25. The Pobeda block reported that the head of Gagauzia was supposed to fly to Istanbul, where she was scheduled to meet. According to the Moldovan Prosecutor General's Office, the politician was detained after her name was found on the list of persons prohibited from leaving the country.
Later, the head of Gagauzia was taken to the National Anti-Corruption Center (NAC) of Moldova. The department reported that in the near future Hutsul will be formally charged in the case of violation of the procedure for managing election funds, illegal financing of election competitors and forgery of documents, prosecutors will ask the court to place her under preliminary arrest.
