Argentine soccer player Diego Maradona could have been in agony for up to 12 hours before his death. This was reported on March 27 by the La Nacion portal with reference to the forensic expert Carlos Mauricio Casinelli, who spoke at the court hearing.

"Regarding the cause of death determined by the autopsy, which involved five forensic experts, and the sixth acted as an observer on the part of Dalma and Gianinna Maradona, the witness stated: "Acute pulmonary edema caused by exacerbation of congestive heart failure and dilated cardiomyopathy," the publication says.

So, during the autopsy, it turned out that Maradona's heart weighed 503 grams, which is twice as much as the norm for an adult of his age. It was covered in fat and enlarged. The footballer had enlarged kidneys and had up to three liters of fluid in his abdominal cavity. According to the expert, a blood clot formed in the heart indicates the agony of a football player.

The publication reported that the trial will continue in the near future with additional testimony from prosecutors Iribarren and Patricio Ferrari.

TN TV channel reported on March 18 that at the trial in Argentina in the case of the death of football player Diego Maradona, the police officers who were the first to arrive at his house said they were surprised by the condition of the body and the conditions of the last days of his life. Other witnesses also pointed to the unnatural state of the body.

Diego Maradona died on November 25, 2020 at the age of 60. The cause of death was acute heart failure, which led to pulmonary edema. The Argentine prosecutor's office has launched an investigation into alleged negligence on the part of the ex-footballer's doctors.
